Ed Reed, Jane Schrantz, Jo An Douglas, WOW!
Dallas Tournament, 6/14/08

For those of you who weren't able to make it to the Dallas Tournament on June 14th, you missed quite a show. The A/B class was truly wonderful to watch. One of our "B Class" Pennsylvania pitchers (Ed Reed) pitched an incredible tournament, and went undefeated against Maryland state champions Elbert Shifflet & Hoss Herrel, and New York State Champions Glen Addicott and Allan Overbaugh. One of Ed's games included 14 consecutive ringers. Many of the games went 60-70 shoes as 4-deads clanged all over the place.

Thanks for defending Pennyslvania Pride, Ed !

Jo An Douglas pitched a 72.5% game. We suggested a urine sample, but she said that we had put something in the strawberry shortcake to both addict pitchers to Dallas tournaments and make them pitch better.

Jo An came in 3rd, while Jane Schrantz of Pennsylvania & Jane Barthlow of Maryland tied for 1st place... Schrantz won the pitch-off which gave her a win in her first ever NHPA tournament ... pitching a few percentage points off her entry average.... I think she'll be back for other tournaments!

Jane Barthlow provided an incredible "Maryland Crab Soup" that provided stiff competition to the awesome food made by our outstanding kitchen staff... Louise Maisel, Carol Schickner, and Mary Ann Cogan.

All the classes were pretty tight; I have never seen so many games won by 1 or 2 points. Unfortunately the final classes were cancelled due to extreme weather conditions. This is the first time since Dale has been tournament director that we've had to cancel classes, but even the veterans of the 2002 Dallas floods agreed that this one couldn't be saved ... it was still pounding rain at 7:45 PM.

WOW!

EPHPA members Joan Douglas and Walter Burtner have pitched in NHPA sanctioned tournaments in all 50 states.
They finished their 50th state in Ardmore, Oklahoma at the 2007 World Tournament.
