Pre-Season 2006 Directors’ Meeting
The directors and officers
of Eastern Pennsylvania Horseshoe Pitchers’ Association held their annual
meeting on

Opening Business:
The
meeting began with a delicious lunch compliments of Jim Eldred. The meeting was called to order at
Business Items:
The
first item of business was a thank you from Jim Eldred for the support he
received during his two-year term as president.
He also announced that he plans to take a leave from horseshoes for
personal reasons.
Reports: The officers were called upon for a report. There
were no reports except for Tournament Coordinator Steve Strausbaugh who
announced the top three finishers of the 2005 points championship. First place went to Chris Woods, second
place: Butch Maisel: and third place: Roger Wandell.
Award Plaques: The next item of business discussed was the making of
plaques for the 2006 state singles tournament. Jim Eldred announced that he
will be unable to make them this year.
After considerable discussion, Dale, Jim and Steve agreed to research
different places for prices. It was even
suggested to contact
A
motion was made by Dale Estep that we provide 4 plaques for the 40ft men’s
championship class and 2 plaques for all other classes. Tom Decker seconded the motion and all voted
yes.
Player Withdrawal: Tom Baker raised a question about how tournament
directors are to handle the situation of a player withdrawing in the middle of
a tournament. His concern is that it
should be handled consistently the same way by all directors. It was noted that some withdrawals have not
been for legitimate reasons. Dick Scott
informed the directors that NHPA is currently rewriting the rules and
regulations. It was decided that we would wait until these revisions are
complete to see how this problem is addressed.
Director Resignation & Changes: It was announced that two directors have
resigned. Ray Haskins (Camp Hill) and
Joe Rinehart (
Herm
Specht informed the board that John Rheam will now be the tournament director
at Reedsville. Herm will continue to represent Reedsville at the directors’
meeting.
Dave
Holiday has expressed an interest in being the tournament director for New
Holland. It was also mentioned that Howard Allen may consider being the
tournament director for
30 Foot Pitchers: Tom
Decker brought before the board the possibility of having separate classes for
30 ft pitchers at tournaments. He said
that there has been an increase in 30 ft. pitchers, and that their numbers may
now make this possible. No action was
taken at this meeting, and it was suggested that further consideration may take
place at the membership meeting in February.
2006 Schedule: The next item of business was to make a tentative
schedule of tournaments for the 2006 season.
The schedule will be finalized at the membership meeting at

It
was announced that the 2006 Membership Meeting will be held on Saturday,
February 4th at Mt. Wolf beginning at 12:00 Noon.
